Also good to have on hand if you have children as an emergency room visit is very traumatic for everyone but especially for the child.

How To Use The Zip Stitch Wound Closure Strips

1. Stop the bleeding. An included gauze can assist with this.
2. Clean out the wound with clean water thoroughly. An included iodine swab (red
liquid) can assist with this by applying to the skin edges.
3. Remove any hairs on both sides of the laceration with the included razor so the
ZIPSTITCH has a good seal with the skin.
4. Clean the skin with the included alcohol (clear liquid) swab. Let alcohol dry for
about one minute.
5. Open the package and take the wound closure device off the paper.

6. Stick on the cleaned skin spanning the device across the laceration.
7. Press down
the adhesive tape carefully.
8. Apply enough devices according to the wound length.
When using multiple devices, each device should be 2mm away from each other.
9.Tighten the hasps gently and evenly so the two sides of skin are brought together
tightly but not overlapping.
10. Trim the long zip-tie ribbons.

11. Apply a dressing with the included large bandage.
12. Carefully remove the
device after recovery. Usually from 1 to 2 weeks.
13. Check in with your doctor if the skin reddens during recovery as an infection may
be present.

What are the advantages of wound closure strips?

Wound closure strips, often referred to as “butterfly stitches” or “steri-strips,” are adhesive strips used to close minor cuts, lacerations, and surgical incisions without the need for traditional stitches or sutures. These strips offer several advantages over other wound closure methods:

  1. Non-Invasive: Wound closure strips are non-invasive, meaning they don’t require needles or thread to be inserted into the skin. This can reduce the pain and discomfort associated with sutures or staples.

  2. Minimal Scarring: When applied properly, wound closure strips can help minimize scarring by holding the wound edges together as they heal. This can result in a finer, less noticeable scar compared to sutures or staples.

  3. Ease of Application: Applying wound closure strips is relatively straightforward and doesn’t require specialized medical training. This makes them a convenient option for minor cuts and wounds, even in non-medical settings.

  4. Quick Application: The application of wound closure strips is usually faster than sutures or staples, which can be particularly advantageous in emergency situations or when dealing with multiple minor wounds.

  5. Flexibility and Movement: Wound closure strips are typically more flexible than traditional sutures or staples. This flexibility allows the wound to move more naturally during the healing process, which can contribute to improved overall healing outcomes.

  6. Reduced Risk of Infection: The adhesive nature of wound closure strips helps seal the wound edges, reducing the risk of infection by preventing contaminants from entering the wound.

  7. Less Tissue Trauma: Unlike sutures or staples that require puncturing the skin with needles or metal, wound closure strips adhere to the skin’s surface. This can result in less tissue trauma and discomfort for the patient.

  8. Cosmetic Benefit: Wound closure strips are less bulky and visible compared to sutures or staples. This can be particularly beneficial when wounds are located on visible areas of the body.

  9. Hypoallergenic Options: Some wound closure strips are made from hypoallergenic materials, reducing the risk of allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

  10. Post-Op Flexibility: In certain cases, wound closure strips can provide more flexibility than traditional closures, which can be advantageous for areas of the body that experience frequent movement.
